Criteria:

  1. reside in LaPorte County, Indiana;
  2. have graduated from an accredited Indiana high school that serves LaPorte County by June 30, 2000;
  3. intend to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study beginning in the fall of 2000 at an accredited public or private Indiana college or university; and
  4. submit a complete application package by February 14, 2000. Accredited high schools that serve LaPorte County include: John Glenn, La Lumiere, La Porte, LaCrosse, Marquette, Michigan City, Michigan City Alternative, New Prairie, South Central, Westville and possibly other special schools.

Winning the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is a privilege and an honor for a student that far exceeds its monetary value. Therefore, the Scholarship Selection Committee will seek to select the two most outstanding LaPorte County students among those who apply. Excellent academic performance and service to others are key. Demonstrated leadership, commitment, employment history, and a personal interview will also be an important part in the Committeeís selection decision.

Award: These scholarships will provide full-tuition, required fees, and a special allocation of up to $700 per year for required books and equipment for four years of undergraduate study leading to a baccalaureate degree at any Indiana public or private college or university accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Application: Forms are Available at the Unity Foundation of LaPorte County and LaPorte High Schools. Applications must be completed totally to be fully considered. An application is also available electronically.
