Birdseed Sale:

Fill your bird feeders and our coffers with your bird seed purchases, when Potawatomi Audubon holds its annual seed sale at Thimbleberry & Company on Saturday, October 18. This is a major fund raiser for us and prices remain the same as last year!

A great assortment of prime seeds will be available through advance orders. They include oilers, thistle, No Waste and safflower seeds and suet blocks.

Fill out and sent the accompanying order form (.pdf 171k), or call Eugene Barker, 362-5062, for further information. Orders must be received by October 11 to be assured of your supply of seed for pickup that day.

Sandhill Cranes:

Seeing sandhill cranes will be the goal of our field trip on Sunday, November 2. We are lucky to be close to the astounding spectacle of 12,000 of these beautiful migrating birds.

Best seen at sunset, we will meet at 3:00 pm at the NIPSCO Training Center parking lot to car pool to the Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Game area, a 45 minute ride. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars, scopes, and cameras. Call Mary Jo Pflum, 324-0649, with questions and for further details.

For more photos see the DNR Sandhill Crane web page at www.in.gov.

See the Projects Page for updates on bluebird trails, the bird count and the butterfly count.
